Omega chronometer (1944)
This is a manual wind Omega chronometer dating from around 1944. The watch has a chronometer movement (30T2RG) which was adjusted to keep very precise time. A chronometer is a watch that has passed a seris of strict, independent tests of the time keeping under controlled conditions for a period of several days.
The 30T2RG movement is beautifully finished - the components are wonderfully polished and bevelled. There is a very interesting and detailed exploration of the Omega manual wind chronometers here (http://squelettewatches.com/chronometres-30mm/)
The case is made from 14 carat gold, which presumably means it was intended for export to the USA. The brushed silvered dial is in really excellent condition with applied gold numerals and hour markers.
The watch has been fully serviced and regulated and performance is excellent. It comes with a new old stock strap and a gold plated vintage Omega signed buckle.
Case diameter (excluding winding crown): 33mm
Case material: 14 carat gold
strap width: 17mm
time keeping: grade A
